A Dream Comes True
A couple of New Yorkers decided to invest their retirement money to buy a house and a few acres of land in Portugal. The modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15 years; the owner and wife both had died, and there were no heirs. The house was sold to pay taxes.

There had been several lookers, but the large barn had steel doors, and they had been welded shut. Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the barn, and it wasn’t complimentary to the property anyway… so, nobody made an offer on the place.

The couple bought it at just over half of the property’s worth; moved in, and set about to tear in to the barn – curiosity was killing him. So, he and his wife bought a generator and a couple of grinders… and cut through the welds.
What was in the barn? Don’t miss it!

2008 Summer Paralympic Games:
The 2008 Summer Paralympic Games, the thirteenth Paralympics, took place in China from September 6th to September 17th, Beijing is once again hosting athletes from around the world. Over 4,200 athletes – from six different disability groups – from 148 countries are taking part in the 2008 Summer Paralympic Games. Not only are the sports divided into events, but the events are divided into different disability categories, to even out the playing field as much as possible. The slogan for this year’s Paralympic Games is the same as the one for the Olympics held just last month: “One World, One Dream”
This 2008 Summer Paralympic Games, according to Phillip Craven, The President of International Paralympic Committee, is quoted as “The Greatest Paralympic Games Ever”.

The following pictures have been published in thousands of sites, even millions, but I’ll post them anyway. All of the pictures posted represent a particular history at a particular time.
Here are some dark days in the world’s history:
December 3rd, 1984. The first picture was taken in time of the Bhopal Industrial disaster. This has been considered as the biggest tragedy, resulting in the instant death of more than 3,000 people, 8,000 more died within two weeks and another 8,000 died since the tragedy. This was triggered by the release of 42 metric tons of Methyl Isocyanate gas, exposing at least 52,000 people to toxic gas.

Jennifer Gonnerman
This interesting article was written by Jennifer Gonnerman, published in Mother Jones – Smart, Fearless Journalism, August 20th 2007. This has been a photo essay on the Judge Rotenberg Center; formerly known as the Behavior Research Institute, a facility where autistic, mentally retarded, and emotionally troubled children from eight states are subjected to food deprivation, social isolation, and even electric shocks. A look inside the taxpayer-funded program that treats American kids like enemy combatants. Eight states are sending autistic, mentally retarded, and emotionally troubled kids to a facility that punishes them with painful electric shocks. How many times do you have to zap a child before it’s torturing?

Today’s lesson is about manner
I was browsing the web when I stumbled upon this picture, it’s agonizing, sad, embarrassing and upsetting me. I wonder if her parents teaches her to distinguish right from wrong. Does she know the meaning of this impolite gesture? Does she realize how other people would react to this? I’m sad and embarrassed for having to see this. How could a girl, so little may show such a bad attitude towards an old woman? Will somebody please explain this?

Can you imagine what it was like to have been photographing a wedding in Sichuan, China when 7.9
earthquake hit and shakes for three minutes with the entire church crashing down? The result would be a timeless, unforgettable wedding throughout history. It was a good thing they weren’t doing the family formals at the altar at the time. (photos courtesy of Dragon Photo, ND Daily and Sohu.com)
